We met photographing Gucci stores. Then we built the agency we wished existed.

The Retail Archive was started by two photographers on opposite coasts, Brian Berkowitz in New York and Pablo Enriquez in Los Angeles.

Before TRA, we were both photographing Gucci stores, with Brian covering most of the East Coast and Pablo the West. We were shooting for other fashion and luxury brands too, and the more we talked, the more we kept landing on the same gap. Brands had plenty of talented photographers to choose from, but most of them split their time between retail, interiors, and everything else. There was no agency built specifically for store capture, one team a brand could call for an opening in Dallas and a renovation in Beverly Hills in the same month.

So in 2024, we started one. One project led to the next, and our work has since taken us to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Dallas, and many other cities across North America.

One look, every store

When a brand hires a different local photographer in every city, every store comes back looking a little different. Different lighting, different angles, different editing. Then someone has to find, vet, and brief each of those photographers, which takes time and money.

With TRA, you make one call. Every project is led by one of us, Brian on the East Coast or Pablo on the West, and our associate photographers shoot to the same standards we do. All post-production happens in-house, so every image is edited by our own team. Whether it’s one flagship or a ten-city rollout, the stores look like they belong together.

How we work

Most of our work comes directly from brands, and much of the rest comes by word of mouth from the visual merchandising, store planning and PR teams we’ve worked alongside. We also partner with the designers, architects, and fabricators who build these spaces. Whoever brings us in, the shoot runs the same way: we usually work before doors open or after close, so the store looks the way it was designed, and we shoot tethered so your team sees every frame on set and can weigh in as we go.
